Choosing a place for staycation is challenging but this month I made a surprise trip to Panna, in Madhya Pradesh. A sudden plan is always exciting with the fun of experiencing Vande Bharat for the first time. The new vibrant Vande Bharat readily got brownie points with comfortable steps to climb, the sensor door, extended leg space, wide walk passages, and clean washrooms. Not to forget snack vendors were difficult to ignore. So we satisfied ourselves with two Kit Kat bars along with the yummy serving of Indian Railways.

The drive from Khajuraho station to Panna Tiger Resort took about 25 minutes. We reached Panna Reserve Resort at about 2 pm and looking at the sun outside, I was sceptical about the heat but instantly when our car entered inside the hotel, what drew my attention was the wild landscape of this resort. It is located on the edge of the forest, surrounded by grassy patches, abundance of trees without disturbing nature. It gave a feeling of being inside the jungle. As a city person I often get attracted a simple, rustic architecture with low-rise structure which is best matched with the natural profile of the land. We walked through the unpaved paths lined with natural stones and shrubs, and we reached our rooms.
The rooms have a natural and earthy theme enhancing the wild vibe. The furnishing was carefully done in earthy colors like beige, sand, olive green, muted browns, and stone gray tones. Wooden furniture was largely handcrafted with a rugged look consisting of a huge double bed, well designed workplace with writing tables, chairs but what still stuck with me was the comfortable sofa set right next to the large window with the clear view of Ken River. For me this is the soul of the place.
We did not miss out enjoying a super healthy breakfast next morning at the elaborate sit out facing the Ken River. These private verandahs are decorated with wooden railings where we were sipping our coffee.

The rooms are filled with natural light during the day, giving it a bright, breezy feel where I enjoyed my most of the morning and afternoon time working on the comfy sofas with Ken river view. Certainly I did not miss out on taking pictures of this perfect location.
The rooms have 24 hours backup, the summer morning and afternoon can be enjoyed inside and being beside the Ken river, the early morning and evening are very breezy. Due to the proximity of the Ken river at night you can enjoy a rustic dinner in the open area enjoying the soft sound of ken river flowing.
The river-facing rooms at Panna Tiger Resort should be your pick for a peaceful staycation. The property gives you a feel of being simple, rustic, yet quietly luxurious, with a focus on comfort, natural materials, and the magic of nature outside.
Itβs designed to make you feel part of the jungle and the river, without giving up cozy living standards
